Dr. Juliet Akoth, a physician in Kitui, Kenya, enrolled in Echo for Life, a program sponsored by Novartis in partnership with the University of Nairobi to train healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Although heart disease is a growing problem in Kenya, many people remain undiagnosed due to a lack of healthcare infrastructure and not enough doctors with relevant expertise.
